Makuhari Messe is one of the largest facilities for International Exhibitions/Conferences in Japan. Located in the Tokyo Bay area, next to the Makuhari Marine Park, it has easy access also to tourist and cultural attractions such as Tokyo Disney Resort (Disney Land and Disney Sea, the latter offers attractions not available in U.S.), Kasai Aquarium, Chiba Prefectural Museum, Boso no Mura Museum (museum with old style houses), Chiba Marine Stadium, etc. Makuhari Messe was constructed in 1989 as the center of Makurari New City (a part of Chiba City). Because of easy access from the center of Tokyo, a number of major companies (Sharp, Fujitsu, IBM, Canon, NTT, etc) are now located there. The Makuhari Messe area is quite convenient for visitors from abroad; 30 minutes from Narita International Airport by limousine bus, 30 minutes from Tokyo station by train (five minute walk from JR Kaihin Makuhari Station), within walking distance of a number of hotels with a wide variety of room rates and Plena Makuhari + Messe Amuse Mall (one of the largest malls in Japan) for shopping, etc. Makuhari Messe is equipped with barrier-free facilities for handicapped people. Mihamaen (a park with a Japanese style garden) and other seaside parks will provide a refreshing atmosphere for conference attendees.
